Hello everyone. I thought I’d send out a little update on how the Nelson family is doing. Baby Sadie is continuing to do very well. She’s growing more each day. I’m doing very well health wise. When we came home I was fairly anemic and so my energy level has been down. I’m on iron now and as long as I get sleep I feel great. Motherhood is amazing.

Let’s see… you all probably heard but at birth Sadie weighed 7 lbs 11 ounces and measure 20.5 inches. In the first two days she lost 10 ounces. The doctors reassured us that weight loss is very normal. Four days later our doctor was surprised to find out that Sadie had already gained 13 ounces. (She’s a good little eater.) Her slight case of jaundice is gone and Dr. Estep is very pleased with Sadie’s progress. Since the flu season this year is especially harsh he did advise us to stay away from large crowds for a couple of weeks (so if you haven’t seen us at church that’s why). It’s been hard not running all over sharing her with every one of you. We are slowly increasing our daily outings and hope to see you all very soon. We love having visitor so feel free to call and schedule a visit. Until we see you we remain yours truely,

Sara and Sadie N.

Baby Sadie

Hi everyone. This has to be kind of quick since I have family coming over any minute. I just wanted to tell the world that I am officially a mommy. My daughter, Sadie May, was born at 10:00 AM Tuesday February 13th at the Skagit Valley Hospital. She was 7 lbs 11 oz and 29 inches long. Sadie is a great little girl who only cries when she is in need. Beautiful and pleasant she is her daddy's delight (and mine as well).

I'm doing well, slowly recovering from lossing a lot of blood and getting little sleep. Jason and I plan to stay close to home this week. So, if you miss us at church, know that we're are well, just resting, and we'll see you next week.

We've just gotten a camera so you'll begin to see more pictures as the days go by. Until next time...

Hello everyone. It's been a while but things are still going very well. The baby showers on the 12th and 13th were great. They whipped me out for a few days but both were a big blessing. It was great fun to see all my family and friends and to see all the support. Since then Jason and I have been able to get the neccessary items we'll be needing soon. We now are the proud owners of such items as an infant car seat, baby monitors, a stroller, and more articles of baby clothes than I wish to mention. The nursery is all set up and I'm spending this week adding the "finishing" touches. Other than that nothing has really been going on. I'm trying to take things easy the next few weeks since I know that very soon I'll need all the energy I can muster.

Well, that's about it for now. See ya later!

Hello world. 2008 is going fairly well for me thus far. I'm still getting bigger (as is my baby girl), and still feeling remarkably well. Not much going on this past week other than the "de-treeing" of the house. All the Christmas stuff is getting put away for another year. I'm getting ready for next weekends baby showers. I'm having two, back to back. I'm either a genius (getting everything out of the way) or really stupid. I'll let you know which one turns out to be true. I thought I'd put up our latest baby update for ya'll. I hope you enjoy.

How your baby's growing:
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew). Because it's so snug in your womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

How your life's changing:
Your uterus — which was entirely tucked away inside your pelvis when you conceived — now reaches up under your rib cage. If you could peek inside your womb, you'd see that there's more baby than amniotic fluid in there now. Your ballooning uterus is crowding your other internal organs, too, which is why you probably have to urinate more often and may be dealing with heartburn and other gastrointestinal distress. If you're not grappling with these annoyances, you're one of the lucky few.

MOMMY'S NOTES:
Hello everyone. I hope that your New Years went well. Jason and I had a quiet evening at home with his sister Sarah and her boyfriend Sam. After midnight we had a few more people over and "partied" until about 3:30. I went to be about an hour before the last people went home. I'm so glad that we have a place for these young people to come and spend their time. As I told one of the college guys, "I'd much rather have these young men here, in my house, than trying to entertain themselves elsewhere."

I'm still feeling great. Fatigue has hit me again and I tend to sleep longer and even take naps when I can. I still haven't had any food "cravings". I'd hate to waste a whole pregnancy by not sending my husband out on a AM run for some sort of snack. (not that it would "waste" pregnancy.) I'm very excited about my upcoming showers. The main shower is this Sunday the 13th at Emmanuel Baptist, starting at 2:30. The family shower is the day before, January 12th. My mothers have graciously taken over the planning of it and all I'm doing is opening the door and allowing people to rub my belly. :) Yesterday my moms and I traveled south to pick up our crib and changing table. Now the nursery will house more than the bags of baby clothes that have already been given to us. I'm so excited.

Well, I'm going to go and finish my nightly routine before scooting off to bed. I love you all.

Happy New Year!

Wow, I can't believe that a whole new year has begun. I don't know about you but I didn't make any resolutions this year. I just found out that within the first 3 months of the year 97% of all resolutions made are broken. In the past my resolution was always within that percentage. :) Looking back over the past year it is amazing to see how God has moved through all the different circumstances and happenings in my life. In all of the "good", "bad" and unexpected happenings God has been there and has blessed my life through everything. God is good and faithful. Thank you God. It is such a blessing to know that this year He will be with me again to see me through it all. He is my peace and piller of strength.

On a different note, I wanted to mention that the "baby names" on the side do not include the actual eventual name of my daughter. I hope that you didn't get too excited. But do still vote. I'd love to see which one you guys like the best. So far poor Unice Rose hasn't had any takers. I'm so shocked. ;)

Jason and I had some young people over last night. Most showed up after midnight to a sort of "after party" sort of thing. I went to bed around 2:30 AM and have no idea when everybody else called it quits. I'll have to ask my husband after he wakes up... maybe I'll know by tomorrow. I was very disappointed (but amused) with the Seattle midnight celebration. Someone definately lost their job there. Fireworks, no music. Music, no fireworks. Rinse, repeat. It was all sad, very sad. I hope you all had a great New Years Eve.

If any of you are interested Jason made this AWESOME photo gallery of all our pictures of the past... well, forever. You should be able to get to it by clicking on http://picasaweb.google.com/jasonmnelson.

Well, it is time for me to sign off. S'later 'gator.

Sara

PS.

Below is a picture of our new home. We moved in early December and are loving it here in Burlington.

My First Post

Hello everyone. I thought I'd place a few pictures here for ya'll to see. Below is also the lastest of my "baby updates". Enjoy the last of your 2007.

BABY UPDATE: Week 34

Hello everyone! This is going to be a somewhat short update. Things at the Nelson house are going great. We're enjoying the holiday break that has brought many friends home for the holidays. Hosting and socializing have been the norm this week. Jason's fighting a chest cold and I'm trying to avoid catching it. 'Tis the season for colds and coughs.

I'm still feeling great. Last night at youth group my friend Juli Goff was able to see my belly roll around as my daughter tossed and turned. Baby is still growing and getting stronger. It's a lot of fun to feel her move and push. Sleeping is still a struggle on most nights but I have a great husband who allows me to take naps when and if I need it.

I'm going to sign off now. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and I'll talk to you again before the new year.

The soon to be mommy,

Sara

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

How your life's changing:
As your baby fills out even more of your belly, lots of things might start to change: Whereas before you were sashaying, you may find yourself waddling. Finding an easy position to sit in — let alone sleep — is becoming more of a challenge. And bumping into chairs and counters is par for the course.
